Since its establishment, AMFED has conducted a series of media consultations and training initiatives contributing to national and regional dialogues, informing policy making, and launching awareness campaigns. AMFED has also participated in a number of conferences, workshops, summits and forums to promote media involvement in development issues.

In 2007 and 2008, AMFED launched a national program called Dialogue for Development – National Initiative which consisted of a series of focused consultations designed to enable the Egyptian media to take an active role in supporting greater civic participation, good governance, and reform policies.

The success of the national initiative laid the groundwork for a regional initiative currently underway entitled Dialogue for Development – A Regional Approach. Through a series of regional consultations, this initiative seeks to mobilize the Arab media in North Africa, the Levant, and the Gulf; to take an active role in civic participation, good governance principles, and development issues through constructive dialogue on media rights, media advocacy and the media’s role in civic participation.
